What we are doing now

Fuel poverty campaigners need to work on the Government’s Energy Review to ensure that the targets for eradicating fuel poverty by 2016 are not missed. So far, the debate has been dominated by the discussions about nuclear energy with the issue of affordable energy for all households taking a back seat.

Ofgem, the fuel suppliers regulator, is carrying out a review of the Supply Licence Conditions. The Campaign will be responding to the consultations on these conditions to ensure safeguards for low income and vulnerable consumers.

Annual Conference - May 10 2006

The Campaign’s Annual Conference is a major annual event for those in the energy, utilities, housing, social care, local authority and public health sectors to benchmark progress toward ending the injustice of fuel poverty in Britain.

This year’s Conference – Fuel Poverty and Climate Change – striking the balance for 2010 – addressed the impact and solutions to the problems of climate change and fuel supplies for the fuel poor in the UK.

Elliott Morley MP was to address the conference but was replaced by Ian Pearson MP in the reshuffle. His prepared speech was presented by a civil servant.

It was addressed by Malcolm Wicks, Minister of State for Energy.

The conference report will be available soon, please check back or contact the Administrator.
